PAID Summer 2019 Reporting Internships in Nebraska

The Nebraska Press Association Foundation’s summer internship/scholarship program (paid summer, housing stipend plus $1,000 scholarship) has two last-minute openings.

The program was adopted as a way to introduce Nebraska journalism students to the challenges and rewards of community journalism, and give students hands-on experiences that will allow them to enhance their skills. It is the hope that with this type of experience under their belts, former interns will some day want to become more involved in Nebraska community journalism, continuing the vital role newspapers play in our communities.

DETAILS:
> This is a paid internship. Newspapers will provide student interns with a wage and a housing stipend. (Pay will be set by each newspaper.)
> The two students must be interested in REPORTING/WRITING and must be interested in the northeast Nebraska area (towns listed below).
> Students should submit ONE completed application form directly to Rob Dump and Jim Dickerson - contact info below - (and also email their app form to Nebraska Press Association at nebpress@nebpress.com). Students are encouraged to submit resume, work samples and reference letter with their application.
> Interested students will be contacted directly by the participating newspapers to set up interviews, make offers, describe internship duties, etc.
> Once the eight-week internship is successfully completed, and a closout evaluation form has been submitted to NPA, the student will receive a $1,000 scholarship from the NPA Foundation to assist with the next semester’s tuition. (Payment will be sent to school’s financial aid/bursar office for deposit into student’s account.)
