Please consider joining FEMA Region VII’s Lunch and Learn on Older Adults in Disaster on September 24th from 12 - 1pm CDT / 11 am – 12 pm MDT. Older Adults are especially vulnerable during and after disasters, with older age groups having a higher rate of morbidity and mortality than the general population. Join Dr. Sharon White-Lewis from UMKC as she discusses the Senior’s Positive Impact on Community Emergencies (SPICE) project, a 4-phased initiative to improve disaster preparedness in the state of Missouri and learn how they are successfully reaching community dwelling older adults and improving their ability to survive and contribute to their communities during disasters. All Emergency Managers, Voluntary Agency Representatives, and Community Members having an interest in or role in disaster preparedness, response and recovery are welcome. Please share this invitation widely with your networks.
