The North Central Risk Management Education Center (NCRMEC) recently awarded over $650,000 in funding to project directors for Extension risk management education programs for producers. The funding year begins July 1, 2013 and ends June 30, 2014.

This funding will be used to develop and implement educational programming for agricultural producers addressing production, human resources, financial, legal, and marketing risk, said Brad Lubben, NCRMEC Program Director. In 2013, project directors are from a variety of north central universities and one non-profit organization.

For the 11th straight year, the Extension Risk Management Education program has awarded grants to projects that teach farmers and ranchers the tools they need to address the uncertainties in farm income. Funding decisions are made by an Advisory Council of peers in the agricultural risk management field.

The Extension Risk Management Education is funded by USDA’s National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) and has been hosted by the University of Nebraska Lincoln Department of Agricultural Economics and UNL Extension since 2001.
