Breakout Discussion Group Topics
As part of this symposium, attendees will have the opportunity to discuss current trends facing today's youth and families as they relate to housing and the built environment. Below are the topics that will be discussed. You will be asked to pick one area in your registration; however, you are free to choose a different topic that day.

Health and Safety Factors in the Home
Discuss how these factors affect child and youth development (lead, mold, air quality, basic safety, cognitive, physical and social development, behavioral issues).

Drought and its Impact on Families
Discuss drought and warming trends as they impact air quality, health and safety, housing structures, housing displacement, at-risk housing, etc.

Activities Within Built and Natural Environments
Discuss how these environments relate to activities for children and youth:
outdoor play, place to study, safe neighborhoods, etc.

Food Security and Housing
Discuss how housing and location relate to access to healthy food, and the health and wellbeing of children, youth and families; lead paint and nutrition, ability to garden, convenient food supply, housing role in the ability to "be active" and exercise.
