Technology 2020 Plan Completed

I am pleased to report the Technology 2020 Plan has been completed, with the understanding it will never really be finished given ongoing changes in information technology and how we choose to apply them. The report may be reviewed by visiting http://bit.ly/1kOUqY9. Also, a Technology 2020 Plan a webinar has been scheduled for 11 a.m. Central Time, Friday, August 8. The program will include an overview of the Plan, as well as key recommendation and priorities. To join the webinar, please visit http://connect.unl.edu/extlearn.

The report describes the Technology 2020 charge, the process used to develop the Plan, results from the survey conducted this past spring, key drivers and disruptive shifts within today’s technology-enabled environment, strategic directions, and four Action Plans. Each Technology 2020 Action Plan includes recommendations designed around engaging and reaching customers, developing and delivering content and programs, and providing the tools and professional development needed to enable the organization to deliver transformative education grounded in excellence and scholarship.

When reviewed by the Extension Leadership Team, the consensus was the plan is forward thinking, will add value to the organization over time, and can serve as a roadmap for how we should use technology into the future. In addition, the Leadership Team identified recommendations that need immediate attention and those that can be worked on a bit later.

Next steps include identifying 3-5 person implementation teams to develop detailed milestones per Action Plan, milestones outlining the work to be accomplished over the next 12 – 14 months. Stay tuned, as there is certainly more to come in the near future.
