UNL Employee Assistance Program (EAP) - A Resource for Everyone During Difficult Times

We know there are a multitude of changes going on in each of your lives; world affairs, NU system changes, Nebraska Extension changes, as well as local level needs. Collectively, that can create stress; and, as our most valuable resource, we want to help you deal with that stress as productively as possible. UNL has resources through their Employee Assistance Program (EAP) that may be helpful to you personally, to your family, or to those with whom you work, in tackling some of these tough issues. The resources that EAP offers are important to understand in various professional roles including unit leader, supervisor, team leader/member, colleague or friend.

On September 6 at 2:00 CT, we are hosting a webinar with Floyd Sylvester, the Director of UNL’s EAP program. He will share the resources that are available and answer questions such as:

• What kinds of issues can EAP help with?
o What resources are available?
o Are the services confidential?
o How can I access the services? Do I have to drive to Lincoln?
• What are the signals/indicators that someone should contact EAP?
• How do you help others understand that it’s not a bad thing reach out? Especially early in the process.
• How can I identify where these stressors are coming from and set realistic expectations?
• What are recommendations for dealing with times of unknown and stress?
