Glyphosate-Resistant Palmer Amaranth Management Field Day is July 10

Jason Norsworthy, a weed scientist from the University of Arkansas, will be the keynote speaker at this year's Glyphosate-Resistant Palmer Amaranth Management Field Day. The free event will be Wednesday, July 10, at Carleton, Nebraska.

Norsworthy is a professor and the endowed chair of the Weed Science Department at the University of Arkansas. He has documented eight herbicide-resistant weeds in Arkansas, including glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth, and speaks nationally and internationally on his findings.

The field day will start with registration and rolls at 8:30 a.m. and end after lunch at 1 p.m. Field tours will be held from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m. when Norsworthy will speak.

Palmer amaranth, a member of the pigweed (Amaranthaceae) family, is one of the most troublesome weeds in soybean. Glyphosate-resistant Palmer amaranth was first found in south central Nebraska in the summer of 2016 and since then has spread to other areas in the state. The tour is of field demonstrations on how to control resistant Palmer amaranth in field and seed corn production.
