Professor Christal Sheppard, along with other law professors, submitted an amicus brief in Apple v. Motorola in the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals. Also, Professor Sheppard was quoted in the Wall Street Journal’s article, on the Apple v. Samsung case: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424127887323478304578334540541100744.html

She was also recently chosen to lead the Patent Public Advisory Committee's (PPAC's) subcommittee on finance which reviews the polices and performance of the financial operations of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), including user fees. The subcommittee's purview is particularly relevant given the sequestration and the affect it may have on the USPTO's finances and operations and the fluctuation in patent filing (and thus patent filing fees) due to full implementation of the Patent Reform Act of 2011. She also serves on the Legislative and International committees.

In addition, Sheppard has been invited to provide written testimony for the US House of Representatives Judiciary committee hearing on Abusive Patent Litigation.
