Three seminars are scheduled this week in Hardin Hall, beginning with Jim Douglas—director of the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission—who will speak in the SNR Seminar Series on Wednesday, Oct. 3. Melinda Harms Benson, a geography and environmental studies professor at the University of New Mexico, will present two lectures (Oct. 4 and 5) for the co-hosting Geography and Applied Ecology seminar series'.
Douglas' presentation, "Future-planning for Nebraska's Fish, Wildlife and Parkland Resources," will provide a brief overview of the agency’s structure and mission, and its strategic planning process. He will also discuss the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s role in the Commission’s strategy to meet the new challenges of a changing landscape. That talk is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Hardin Hall auditorium.
Benson's seminars—sponsored by the Geography and GIScience department and the USGS Cooperative Fish and Wildlife Research Unit—begin Thursday, Oct. 4, in Hardin Hall, room 163. Her talk, "Reconceptualizing social-ecological relations: Is resilience the New Narrative?," begins at 2 p.m.
The following day, Oct. 5, Benson will discuss, "Rules of Engagement: The Spaciality of Judicial Review," in Hardin Hall, room 901, at 2 p.m.
