Professor Melinda Benson, University of New Mexico

“Resilience thinking—is it changing environmental approaches in the United States?”

Friday, October 5
12:10
Room 124

Professor Benson will be discussing the need to rethink our relationship to environmental and natural resource challenges in the face of irreversible rates of human-induced biodiversity loss, exponential increases in per-capita resource consumption, and global climate change. She will focus the opportunity to reexamine underlying assumptions in light of the Rio+ 20 United Nations (UN) Conference on Sustainable Development held in June 2012 which only resulted in a non-binding declaration.

Lunch will be provided to those who RSVP by 5 p.m. Wednesday, October 3 to Barbara Masilko at bmasilko@huskers.unl.edu.
