Building a Foundation for Your Legal Career

At Nebraska Law we want you to begin preparing for your career as soon as the first day of class, so our faculty and administration have expanded our first year curriculum to ensure you finish your first year at the College of Law with a solid foundation in legal research, a basic understanding of professionalism and ethics, and some experience with career exploration and planning.

In Foundational Legal Skills (FLS) the primary focus will be your legal research, writing and oral advocacy skills. You will write memoranda, appellate briefs and even participate in a mock appellate argument. You will also be introduced to legal ethics, and get an opportunity to explore different career opportunities and assess them in terms of your own interests and strengths.
