Schmid Law Library Facts and Features: Books Are Dead! Aren’t They? (No, Actually they’re not!)
As a matter of fact, the numbers of books being published is on the rise! According to a leading source of statistics on the matter, there were nearly 305,000 new titles published in print last year. Eleven years earlier, in 2002 there were just over 215,000 titles published. That’s more than a 40% increase in the numbers of books published in the last eleven years. Counting reprints and print on demand books, the number climbs to over 1.4 new million titles published last year!

Responsible Printing
Large numbers of print jobs lay in printer trays of the printer lab, unwanted and abandoned. No one cares for these unwanted, but eager to please print jobs. The fate that awaits these poor, neglected sheets of paper is nearly unthinkable for a proud, printed sheet of paper whose only desire in life is to please its originator. These poor unwanted print jobs are summarily recycled and ultimately shredded and fixed with toxic chemicals to be molded into yet another sheet of paper - if they’re lucky. Please Print Responsibly. Don’t let another print job suffer unnecessarily.

Classroom Computers
Students should not log into classroom computers for any reason. There are many technical reasons not to do so, most of which are not apparent, but are important nonetheless. If you need to use classroom technology, please see Chris in the IT Suite.

Quiet Please!
Please remember that the library is meant to be a quiet space for people to study. Please be considerate of others, keep your voices down and try to keep your activities as quiet as possible.
