SIPLA will be hosting NUtech on campus as they talk about their job openings for the summer. NUtech is the University’s intellectual property and commercialization arm. They make practical use of the research generated here at the University of Nebraska. Those interested in intellectual property and contracts positions should attend. Pizza and pop will be provided. The openings include several Commercial Analyst positions and a Contract Analyst position.

Spring Break Shadow Program

The spring break shadow program is a great way to make connections in the legal community. It is completely optional but can be a great way to learn about a specific practice area or get to see a judge in action. Employers have volunteered various times and dates throughout your spring break week this year to provide you the opportunity to learn more about what they do. Even if you already have plans to study all week, which is always a wise plan by the way, taking a single morning or afternoon to spend time in a working legal setting can be very worthwhile. Many students have reported that their shadow experience added much needed context to their studies. Take a look at the attached list and be ready when sign-up opens next Monday morning. Sign up requests will be taken after 8:00 a.m. Monday morning by e-mail or in-person at the CDO by Meghan Rivera (lawcareer@unl.edu) . You are limited to signing to one shadow opportunity per day for the first week.

The Loyola Patent Law Interview Program is a two-day interview program held in Chicago each summer that brings together patent law employers and law students from across the country to interview for summer associate positions and post-graduate employment. The 2017 Patent Law Interview Program will be held on Thursday, August 3 & Friday, August 4 at the Embassy Suites Chicago - Downtown/Lakefront at 511 N. Columbus Drive in downtown Chicago.

Mark your calendars for the fourth annual NSBA Sections of the Law Speed-Networking Event on March 9th from 4:00 – 5:30. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet dozens of attorneys and have some fun at this high-energy networking event that we put together in conjunction with the Nebraska State Bar Association. Representatives from most, if not all, of the 30 sections of the NSBA will be seated at tables while students rotate every four minutes. Dust off your elevator speech and get read to ask questions! Make connections that can last a lifetime or just learn a bit more about the kinds of law that are being practiced in the community. The speed- networking will be followed by a reception complete with beverages and appetizers. Take advantage of this time to meet other attorneys or follow up with your favorites!
