Financial Exploitation of the Vulnerable: Beyond the Direct Impact

Hosted by the Department of Health and Human Services, this CLE will feature a panel of professionals who work in this area. Mary Wilson, with Buford Law Firm, will discuss some financial exploitation cases she has seen that impact guardianship decisions, underlying financial exploitation issues that surface when doing power of attorney, and the family dynamics that come into play. Cindy Koenig-Warnke is an investigator with the Lincoln Police Department. She will discuss types of cases she has investigated and their impact on the victims. Mary Christensen, DNP, APRN-NP, will cover the cognitive issues in the aging process, how the aging process makes people vulnerable, review executive dysfunction, and define cognitive and emotional vulnerabilities. This panel will be moderated by Katie Weidner of Adult Protective Services.
