Navy JAG Programs available to Law Students
The Navy is currently accepting applications for their Student Program and the deadline to apply is October 9, 2015. The Navy JAG Corps' Student Program (ROSCOE job posting #13934) is the most common way to become a Navy JAG Corps officer enabling selected law students to commission in the inactive Navy Reserve while attending law school. The Navy JAG Corps' Direct Appointment Program enables licensed attorneys to be appointed directly into the Navy JAG Corps. Additionally, they are also accepting applications for the Navy JAG Corps Summer Internship Program (ROSCOE job posting #13982) and the deadline for that program is January 22, 2016. The Summer Internship Program is a great way for 1L and 2L students to gain legal experience and learn more about opportunities available in the Navy JAG Corps.

1Ls will be able to apply after December 1.

Additional details can be found on our website at http://jag.navy.mil/careers_/careers/opportunities_overview.html.

CLE: The Bob Chaloupka Trial Skills Seminar
Thursday, November 5 (12noon-4:30pm) – Friday, November 6 (8:00am – 12:30pm)
Location: The Hampton Inn, Scottsbluff, NE
Chaloupka Holyoke Snyder will be presenting this year’s iteration of a CLE program (for the third year) in honor of Bob Chaloupka, who was a distinguished trial lawyer in Nebraska. A special registration rate to law students who may have an interest in a fun road trip to the “wild west” to see an exciting panel of dynamic speakers is being offered. Although there are innumerable topics that continuing legal education can cover, this seminar is dedicated to trial skills and storytelling in the courtroom, which was Mr. Chaloupka's great skill in service to his clients.

These speakers are engaging and will be much more interactive than the dry lectures that CLEs can sometimes devolve into, and there are opportunities for fellowship and networking that may benefit both job-seeking students and prospective employers who are seeking to hire soon-to-be graduates with an interest in working in western Nebraska. Please note that there is a special hotel rate for seminar attendees as well.
