The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit Special Session

The United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit will hold a special session in the Auditorium on Tuesday, October 25, at 10:00 am. All 1L students are required to attend it, and therefore Civil Procedure will not meet on 10/25/16.

The special session will begin promptly at 10:00 am, and you should allow plenty of extra time to enter the Auditorium. You may enter the auditorium only through the set of doors adjacent to the Dean’s Office; all other doors will be locked. In addition, United States Marshals will be providing security, and you will not be allowed to enter the Auditorium with any backpacks, laptops, cell phones, food, or beverages. Purses will be subject to examination if brought to the Auditorium. Please do not bring any prohibited items that will delay your (and others’) admission to the Auditorium.

Chief Judge Riley, Judge Beam, and Judge Loken will preside over the special session. Our Auditorium will be the Eighth Circuit’s courtroom at this time, and therefore all normal rules of courtroom decorum must be followed. U.S. Marshals will be on hand to observe and enforce those rules. If you must exit the Auditorium, please limit your movement to the breaks between cases and do your best to minimize disruption.

Students who will be having lunch with the judges should wear business attire. All students are encouraged to dress professionally, especially if you are attending the special session in the Auditorium.

Please contact Dean Pearce if you have any questions about the session.
