Campaign Buttons Exihibit

Schmid Law Library is proud to announce the unveiling of its new display,1960s and 1970s U.S. Presidential Campaign Memorabilia. Spanning three U.S. Presidential elections, the display offers a rare glimpse into an American cultural and political past perhaps not so far removed from the 2016 Presidential election. Through campaign buttons, travel back in time to 1964 and the Civil Rights Era, when Lyndon B. Johnson defeated Barry Goldwater. Items in the exhibit also capture the contest four years later, when, against a backdrop of global socio-political upheaval, the 1968 Presidential election pitted Richard Nixon against Hubert H. Humphrey. Brightly-hued mementos signify the showdown between incumbent Nixon and George McGovern in 1972. An array of buttons and wall art represents additional candidates and campaigning in this trio of elections.

The display is located on the upper level of Schmid Law Library.

Schmid Law Library thanks Patrick Sward, Nebraska College of Law Class of 1987, for his generous loan of items in the display.

Schmid Movie Night, “Roscoe @ the Movies"

The Student Animal Legal Defense Fund is proud to announce the state-wide premiere of Unlocking the Cage. This film has been screened at film festivals around the world, and we have worked with the producers to gain rights for a one-time screening right here at the Nebraska College of Law. Unlocking the Cage documents the legal battle of The Nonhuman Rights Project and renowned animal rights lawyer, Steven Wise, in the unprecedented challenge to tear down the legal wall separating animals from humans. This event is co-hosted by Schmid Law Library as part of its film series, Roscoe @ the Movies.
