Nebraska Law's Space, Cyber and Telecommunications program is providing students interested in telecommunications and policy the opportunity to visit several regional organizations.

The four day/three night Telecom Tour is November 14-17. Participants will visit CableLabs and the Comcast Innovation Center in Denver, Colorado before turning back to Nebraska it visit Hemingford Cooperative Telephone Company in Hemingford and Consolidated Companies in Paxton. The trip also includes a visit to a tech-enabled farming operation, and tourist stops Carhenge and Ollie’s Big Game Steakhouse.

Hotel and Transportation costs are provided (students will be asked to share hotel rooms and ride in a University van operated by Professor Gus Hurwitz and program executive director Elsbeth Magilton). Students are responsible for the cost of food.

The goal of the tour is to give students exposure to the business and regulatory side of a technologically-dynamic and highly regulated industry. Rural telecom providers are very sophisticated businesses operating right here in the middle of America. They are on the front lines of many regulatory challenges. This tour are designed to give students insight into these businesses and to learn about this unique practice area for attorneys. This is an excellent opportunity for students to expand their understanding and meet attorneys working with these companies.
