On August 24, the Architecture Library will reopen in its new and renovated location in the southwest corner of the first floor of Architecture Hall. Construction began in November of 2021 when the Architecture Library’s former location on the third floor east closed. The College of Architecture has turned the former library space into studio space for students.
The new library location features an ASKus service point, public computer access, and a core collection of 10,000 print books and journals. The open seating area will accommodate 30-40 students, and contains two study rooms and one consultation room.
“There will be a nice mix of tables and soft seating giving the students a choice and appealing to students who prefer relaxed or traditional furniture,” said Brent Morgan, Libraries facilities coordinator.
Toni Anaya, associate director, Information Services & Learning Spaces, is excited about the relocation of the Architecture library due to its convenient location for students with an exterior entrance from the building and being adjacent to Architecture Hall’s common area on the first floor.
“More open space, more natural daylight, and more easily accessible will attract students into the comfortable space to study, get assistance, and collaborate together,” said Anaya, “We look forward to serving them.”
