Over the past month we have offered a couple of great training opportunities using virtual platforms. I understand that training via the internet is very different than the face-to-face trainings you are used to from LTAP, but I think they can be pretty effective. It has also given us access to programs and trainers that are often difficult to schedule. We had the FHWA Resource Center train some of our city personnel on Safe Transportation for Every Pedestrian (STEP). We also hosted an AASHTO team train professionals across the state about low-cost bridge maintenance opportunities. Both presented great information, and I saw many engaged participants. I’m suggesting that you give a virtual training a try. In addition to sessions hosted by Nebraska LTAP, we are sharing opportunities from other sources via our Facebook page. I would love to see you at a future event online or face-to-face.
Also note in this month’s newsletter APWAs annual golf outing. They are a great partner for us all, so please show your support if you can. The Winter Maintenance Workshop is one beneficiary of this partnership and funds raised through the golf tournament. This is not a virtual event, so golf clubs will be needed. Have a great month and keep making a difference for our state!
