Mitch shares his monthly update

Spring is a busy time of year for the maintenance and construction of our streets and highways. It’s also a busy time for LTAP. There are lots of training events happening, and we have started to plan for our next fiscal year. We annually work with NDOT, FHWA, and representatives from local government agencies to develop a work plan each spring. Included in the LTAP Advisory Planning Group from Nebraska counties are Bruce Filipi, Barb Keegan, and Gary Connot. Nebraska city representatives include Joe Soucie, Jeff Thompson, and Jake Behrns. If you have suggestions for future training subjects and events, feel free to reach out to any of these folks. Also, you can always talk about your ideas with anyone on the LTAP team. We strive to provide relevant training that will help you do your jobs, so we are always looking for your input. Thanks to everyone who filled out surveys for us at the recent NACO district meetings. Your responses always give us great information.

Something that caught my attention this week was a couple of new courses that are available from NHI. One is Introduction to Financial Planning for Transportation Asset Management. The other is Introduction to a Transportation Asset Management Plan. Both of these courses are hour-long introductory courses that introduce an overview and basic concepts relative to transportation asset management. They lead to other, more in-depth training from NHI, and are free to participate in. Mitch’s advice for this month is to check them out!
