Hello Math Majors,

Did you know that the Spring 2020 Career Fair is coming up soon? The Spring 2020 Career Fairs are on Tuesday, February 11 and Wednesday, February 12 in the Nebraska City Campus Union. The Career Fair is an excellent event to try out your networking skills, to see what potential employers are looking for, and to see what potential employers have to offer in a low-risk environment.

A Career Fair is not the same thing as a Job Fair. There will be many, many employers attending the Career Fair, and they may or may not have jobs and internships to offer. However, they will all be looking to present their companies to you. As a Math major, you have many of the skills that these companies are looking for as a future employee, and the Career Fair is a chance to find a company that might be a good fit for you.

You don't need to be a graduating senior or a junior to attend a Career Fair at UNL. Many of the employers would be happy to talk to students at any point in their undergraduate career, and this is your opportunity to find out what an employer would want from you as a student. This could spark ideas about classes you could take in the future or experiences you could seek out to make you a better candidate for a future job or internship.

I would encourage you to attend the Career Fair every semester, and if you are not sure if it is for you, please come see me and I will explain how the Career Fair is an opportunity that you don't want to miss.

May 2020 Graduates: If you are planning to graduate in May, you must apply for graduation by 11:59 pm on Friday, January 31 using the Graduation Application available on MyRed. If you do not complete the graduation application by the deadline, you risk having your graduation delayed to a later date.

@huskers.unl.edu Email Address

Starting this past summer, ALL University email messages are going to your @huskers.unl.edu email address regardless of your email preferences on MyRed. You MUST check your @huskers.unl.edu email address regularly to stay up-to-date with important announcements from the University. If you would like more information about this change, please visit https://its.unl.edu/helpcenter/student-email-migration/ and review the current student tab of information. All students will be expected to be reviewing their @huskers.unl.edu email address, so if you miss an important piece of information sent to this email, you will still be held responsible for it. If you know your fellow classmates haven't switched over to using their @huskers.unl.edu email address, PLEASE give them this information.

Thanks,
Doug
