Virtual SMART Girls Facilitator
The YWCA of Lincoln works to create community for women of all ages in Lincoln, Nebraska. YWCA Lincoln has been a leader and driving force for human empowerment in the Lincoln community since its founding in 1886. The enterprise that now serves more than 5,000 persons each year began with twelve couples that wanted to provide protection for women and aid them in achieving self-sufficiency.
A virtual SMART Girls facilitator will facilitate SMART Girls curriculum, activities, and programming to girls in 4th-8th grade. SMART Girls Club is a program which engages girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), builds confidence, and inspires them to think about future education or careers in these fields. Virtual facilitators and girls work together to establish a relationship-centered learning community. Girls collaboratively explore hands-on, open-ended projects and investigations. This is currently a remote position, but may be subject to change at a later date.
Responsibilities:
• Attend orientation, training, and complete required documents.
• Be 15 minutes early to virtual club meetings, prepare to help lead activities by reading lesson plans, and take attendance.
• Document indications that girls are meeting the outcomes discussed in training.
• Share any concerns, ideas, and suggestions with YWCA Lincoln SMART Girls and S.T.E.M. program coordinator and staff.
• Be enthusiastic, positive, and excited to work with youth!
Work Schedule:
• The role of virtual facilitator is a part time position that has a minimum commitment of 2 and up-to 4 hours per week, preferably the applicant would be able to commit to at least 4 weeks of facilitation.
Qualifications:
• Strong interest in science, technology, engineering and math.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• The ability/desire to do creative, challenging work with girls.
• Previous education/and or experience teaching children is required.
Salary and Application Information:
• A facilitator stipend is provided based on hours and weeks of completed facilitation.
• Background check required upon hiring date.
