LPS Mentor Program

Lincoln Public Schools (LPS) provides trained mentors to work with students identified as highly gifted in an academic area of their choice up to one hour per day. LPS is actively seeking Juniors, Seniors, and soon-to-be Graduates who meet the following qualifcations:

- Overall GPA of a 3.0 or above
- 15 college course hours in the subject to be mentored
- A minimum of a 3.5 GPA in the subject to be mentored

LPS is actively looking for mentors in the following subject areas:

- Computer Science (Elementary Only)
- English and Language Arts
- History/Social Studies
- Mathematics
- Science
- Visual Art (Elementary Only)
- World Languages

LPS pays mentors $19.81 per hour for time working with students as well as mileage reimbursement for travel between schools for those with assignments at multiple LPA locations.

For students considering the job market after graduation, the mentorship program provides a wealth of experiences to discuss in interviews. For students considering a year off before graduate school, this experience can be enormously valuable on graduate school applications.
