Math in the City Talks - December 7th & 9th

This semester, the MATH 435: Math in the City students collaborated with the Lancaster County Assessor's office to study our local housing market using methods from mathematical statistics. Some groups also explored techniques from machine learning and economics. We had 18 students working in four groups. Each group will give a 20-minute presentation on their work this Wednesday or Friday. The time, location, and titles of their talks are listed below.

Time and location: 2:30-3:20 PM in room 204 of Oldfather Hall

Wednesday, Dec. 7th
• Lancaster County Volatility Analysis - Robert Linnemann, Alexander Muenster, Eric Ovenden, and another student
• Comparing Neural Network and Regression Models in Predicting Lancaster County Housing Prices - Mitchell Finocchiaro, Xuan Le, Eric Liu, Yashaswi Mehra, and Gabe Payson

Friday, Dec. 9th
• An Analysis of the Factors Contributing to a Home's Value - Jillian Baker, Shaunak Datta, Mac DePriest, Shivani Mudhelli, and Parker Zach
• Projecting Neighborhood Growth with a Decision Tree - Cade Cutler, Cole Johnson, Mason Malecha, and Alexander Miller
