2023 IMPACT Program at Penn State

The National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) funded the Improving Access to Research and Training (IMPACT) program sponsored by Penn State’s College of Health and Human Development and College of Nursing. The program is looking for bright undergraduate students from backgrounds traditionally underrepresented in health sciences research who are interested in graduate school and future scientific careers in cardiovascular, pulmonary, hematologic, and sleep disorders research.

The Improving Access to Research and Training (IMPACT) program team is beyond excited to provide this all-expenses-paid intensive research opportunity for 10-12 talented undergraduate students—those who will be incoming juniors and seniors in fall 2023. The students accepted into the program will be matched with well-respected and well-funded Penn State scholars with shared research interests in the College of Health and Human Development and the College of Nursing. In addition to the mentored research experience, the students will participate in professional development workshops and day trips to nearby research facilities, all designed to help them build the skills necessary to develop competitive graduate school applications.

You can read more about the IMPACT program, what an accepted student might expect over the program’s 8 weeks next June and July, and how to apply for the IMPACT program at the following link:

The application deadline is Friday, December 16th!
