Application Deadline: January 1, 2023
The American Mathematical Society (AMS) invites enrolled mathematical sciences students (upper level undergraduate or graduate) and postdoctoral trainees (within one year of graduation) to apply for the 2023 AMS Mass Media Fellowship. Each year, the AMS provides support for students to participate in the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Mass Media Science & Engineering Fellows Program. This ten-week fellowship is designed to increase public understanding of science and technology and enhance coverage of science-related topics in the media.
For over 45 years, the Mass Media Fellows Program has provided an opportunity for students to work full-time for ten weeks over the summer as reporters, researchers and production assistants in mass media organizations nationwide – including radio and TV stations, newspapers and magazines. In addition to a summer stipend of $8,000, travel expenses to and from AAAS in Washington, DC and media outlets nationwide is provided. Fellows will gain valuable work experience and sharpen their communication skills as they research, write and report today’s headlines.
