Putnam Competition and Seminar
Give yourself a mathematical treat!
The annual Putnam Exam will be held this academic year on Saturday, December 7. This is a nationwide mathematical challenge which is open to all undergraduates. There is NO CHARGE to take this examination. The emphasis is on problems which require elementary methods but some originality to be solved.
Female and minority students are especially encouraged to participate; first- and second-year students are also especially encouraged to participate. More information on the Putnam Exam can be found on the following website: https://maa.org/putnam/.
This semester Tri Lai, Thanh Le and Xavier Pérez are organizing the 'Putnam Exam Study Seminar' for students interested in training for the Putnam or just having fun solving math problems. The seminar will meet every Thursday from 3:30-5:00 pm in Avery Hall Room 110 and our first meeting will be held on September 12.
Interested students should send an email to Tri Lai (tlai3@unl.edu), Thanh Le (tle51@huskers.unl.edu), or Xavier Pérez (xperez@unl.edu) with subject line Putnam, indicating their interest in participating. Please email us even if the schedule of the seminar does not work for you!
Best regards,
Tri, Thanh, & Xavier
