Important Updates from Math Club
Fall 2018 Math Club Officers
Math Club has elected new officers during the meeting on Thursday, August 30. The officers for Fall 2018 are:
President - Shannyn Bird
Vice President - Ge (Grace) Chai
Primary Programmer - Alex Schroeck
Treasurer - Thuan Luong
Secretary - Miles Davis
WUMN (Women Undergraduates in Mathematics at Nebraska)
We have also restarted the WUMN (Women Undergraduates in Mathematics at Nebraska) group, which has now become a student chapter of the AWM (Association for Women in Mathematics). The WUMN officers for Fall 2018 are:
President - Lara Quiring
Vice President - Allie Cruikshank
Treasurer - Thao (Mia) Nguyen
and the faculty advisor is Amanda Laubmeier. Contact Dr. Laubmeier (laubmeier@unl.edu) if you are interested in joining WUMN.
Next Math Club Events
The next Math Club events will be:
- a Math Modeling Training session led by Dr. Amanda Laubmeier on Thursday, September 6, 5-6 pm in Avery 351 and
- a presentation by Dr. Alex Zupan on Thursday, September 13, 5-6 pm in Avery 351.
Pizza and pop will be provided!
New Math Challenge Problem!
A new Math Challenge problem has been posted on the Math Club website: https://www.math.unl.edu/math-club/challenge.
The best solution for this problem, submitted in 203 Avery by 4:30 pm on Friday, September 7, will receive a gift card to Dunkin Donuts in Love Library.
