Women in National Security Symposium

University of Nebraska - Lincoln's Intelligence Community Scholars Program will host a Women in National Security Symposium featuring a Bossed Up Workshop on Friday, February 22. IC Scholars is a career mentoring program for students interested in pursuing a career in the Intelligence Community. They prepare students to work for the U.S. national security establishment by providing research, travel, speaking, and training opportunities. With over half of their graduates receiving Conditional Offers of Employment from federal agencies, they lead the region in helping students find employment in the Intelligence Community.

The first annual Women in National Security Symposium will be held at the Nebraska City Campus Union (1400 R Street, Lincoln, NE) on February 22nd from 10:00 am - 6:00 pm, and lunch will be provided. For anyone interested in this career path, there are little opportunities out of New York and Washington D.C., and they are very excited to offer this resource, for free, to students in the Midwest.

The symposium aims to cultivate leadership skills, highlight the obstacles women in national security face, and offer networking opportunities with national security professionals. The day will begin with a leadership identity workshop lead by Bossed Up founder and CEO Emilie Aries. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a career development exercise then attend a panel of national security professionals discuss their experiences and the state of the field. A reception will conclude the day offering attendees the chance to network with panelists and other attendees. Anyone, regardless of gender, is welcome to attend.
