University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Bioengineering Graduate Programs

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign Department of Bioengineering is currently accepting applications for our bioengineering graduate programs (MS, PhD and M.Eng.) for Fall 2021 admission through December 15. They welcome students from all academic backgrounds with strong foundations in math and science, not just bioengineering.

As you may be looking to further your education, we wanted to take this opportunity to introduce you to our bioengineering MS and PhD graduate programs. We also offer a professional Master of Engineering (M.Eng.) degree program that can be completed in one year on-campus or via online through a flexible schedule. Our programs are designed for those looking for a career related to health care and medicine, while being at the forefront of innovation.

UIUC's Department of Bioengineering is widely regarded for its excellence in education and research. As a part of The Grainger College of Engineering, students have access to interdisciplinary research opportunities and state-of-the-art facilities, such as the newly renovated Everitt Laboratory, National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Beckman Institute and the Carl R. Woese Institute for Genomic Biology. Furthermore, with our faculty affiliation with the Carle Illinois College of Medicine and other partner institutions, our students can take advantage of applied translational research and educational opportunities.

Our bioengineering graduate students are well-placed to tackle grand challenges in health care and continue to break new grounds through five research tracks: 1) bioimaging at multi-scale, 2) biomicro and nanotechnology, 3) computational and systems biology 4) molecular, cellular and tissue engineering, and 5) synthetic bioengineering research. In addition, The Grainger College of Engineering commits to a five-year Ph.D. funding guarantee for eligible graduate students.
