Advising Updates

Hello Meteorology-Climatology Majors,

I hope that things are going well for you so far this semester, and if they are not, please schedule a meeting with me or visit me for a drop-in meeting. I know that you have likely just had your first exams or your first exams are coming up in the next week, and I hope that studying for you is going well for these exams.

I don't know how you feel right now, but for me, time seems to be moving more and more quickly since the major changes due to COVID-19 took place. It seems like I have blinked and the first two months of 2021 have passed. In these times where things seem to be moving so fast, you must do your best to manage your time and to keep track of the important items that you need to do each day and week. If you are struggling with time management and/or managing your to-do items, please consider meeting with one of our Academic Success Coaches in the Center for Academic Success and Transition (CAST) or meeting with me. Academic coaching is for everyone at every level of their education as everyone has something that can be improved upon or could adopt a new strategy that would help in their success.

Summer and Fall 2021 Classes
Enrollment for Summer 2021 classes starts on Monday, March 1, and you should be able to see the schedule of Summer 2021 classes on MyRed now. Summer semester is completely open and first come, first served. Most summer classes don't fill up to quickly, but there are exceptions like the fully online versions of ENGL 150 and ENGL 151. The format of summer semester classes appears to be similar to the format of classes right now.

Priority Enrollment for the Fall 2021 semester will start on Monday, April 5, which is a week later than normal You will be able to see the schedule of classes for the fall semester on MyRed starting on Monday, March 22. The Priority Enrollment period will run from April 5 to April 20, and you should be able to see your Priority Enrollment date on Monday, March 22 as well. Right now, I don't know if there will be any changes to the format of classes for the fall semester.

I know that we are only in the fifth week of the regular session courses for the Spring 2021 semester, but NOW is the time to start thinking about classes for the summer and fall semesters.

Thanks, Doug
