Gaining Experience

Nebraska Appleseed Internship
Deadline for Spring Semester: November 22nd at 9 am
• Paid part-time internships averaging 10 hours per week
• Interns get hands-on experience addressing the most relevant and current public interest issues by assisting with research, advocacy work, and community outreach. Nebraska Appleseed is regularly looking for passionate interns for each semester: fall, spring, summer.
• Nebraska Appleseed is dedicated to improving the lives of all Nebraskans through public policy, community support and education, and grassroots organizing efforts. We do this with the help of our dedicated interns.
Nebraska Appleseed interns may work to:
o Advance compassionate policy and laws for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA), Temporary Protected Status (TPS) residents, and our immigrant communities.
o Promote access to basic needs such as housing and food nutrition services and programs.
o Educate Nebraskans on the importance of democracy, civic engagement, and voting.
o Learn about the specifics in the area of nonprofit management such as fundraising, expenditure management, managing office logistics, and more. 
Internship details:
o Interns can work on cutting-edge policy, research, and community outreach.
o Interns work no more than 10 hours per week and are paid at $15 per hour.
o Interns are able to work flexible hours; however, it is expected that interns work with their manager to establish a predictable schedule.
o Depending on the intern's educational institution, they may be able to use their experience for college or university credit.

Rural Fellows Program
• Rural Fellows is a unique program designed to connect college students to rural Nebraska communities. Student pairs move into the rural community, for a 10-week period during the summer, to complete community-identified projects. Past projects have ranged from economic development, workforce development, tourism, community planning, education, mental health, and much more. We are excited that you are interested in participating as a host community during the summer of 2022. Please complete the following application to help us know about your interested projects and potential students.

Project Horseshoe Farm
• Project Horseshoe Farm offers Community Health Fellowship programs in Alabama and California. Alumni consistently express how transformative their Fellowship experience has been, and Fellows go to some of the top medical schools, graduate programs, and nonprofit organizations across the U.S.
• This upcoming year, HSF is offering our traditional Gap-Year Fellowship, which will begin June of 2022 and finish July of 2023 at the Greensboro, Marion, and Pomona sites. For applicants who are available and interested, we are also offering a 6-month Fellowship opportunity in Greensboro from January through July of 2022. It will be shorter, but similar in experience to the full year Fellowship.
