Hello Meteorology-Climatology Majors,

I hope that your fall semester continues to go well as we near the three quarter point (75%) of the semester. The remainder of the fall semester is going to go very quickly with only two weeks until Thanksgiving and only two weeks after Thanksgiving until Final Exams. I know that this is a challenging part of every semester, and I wish you well as you continue to work hard.

Friday, November 10th marks the official three quarter point (75%) of the semester, which is the deadline to withdraw from a full semester course. There are many reasons why you might withdraw from a course early in the semester, but the primary reason to withdraw from a course near the end of the semester would be grades. I would never recommend that you remain in a course that you know for certain you are going to fail. However, there are times where you really need to stay in a course if you have any chance to succeed. If you are concerned about a course but don't know where you stand, you really need to speak with your instructor before choosing to withdraw. I would be happy to meet with you to discuss the withdrawal option, and I would strongly, strongly recommend a meeting rather than an email.

Additional notes: You may not be able to withdraw from a course in certain financial aid and scholarship situations, so it is a good idea to double check your situation with the Husker Hub before withdrawing. International Students - You must remain a full-time student for the entire semester unless there are special circumstances, so you cannot withdraw from a course if you will fall below 12 credit hours.

Wednesday, November 8th Drop-ins
On Wednesday, November 8th, I will have an limited ability to meet during drop-ins from 2 pm to 3 pm as I have a conflicting Zoom meeting that I need to attend. My availability from 1 pm to 2 pm will not be impacted.

Priority Registration
Priority Registration times are assigned to students based on their current class level (actual earned hours). Within each class level, Priority Registration times are distributed randomly each term from earliest to latest. The priority class levels and registration dates are:

1. Seniors (89 credit hours or more) - NOW

2. Juniors (53-88 credit hours) - NOW

3. Sophomores (27-52 credit hours) - NOW

4. Freshmen (0-26 credit hours) - LAST STUDENTS TODAY

5. Open Registration - Wednesday, November 8th to Monday, January 1st (for Pre-Session courses) or Sunday, January 21st (for full semester courses)

If you have a hold on your MyRed account that prevents registration in classes, you will not be able to use your Priority Registration date and time. Information about holds can be found within the MyRed Message Center. If you have questions about a hold, please contact me or the office listed under the hold information. It is also important to be mindful of To Do items in your MyRed Message Center as sometimes these To Do items can turn into holds. If you are on Probation this semester, we must meet to discuss your academics in order for your Probation hold on enrolling in Spring 2024 semester classes to be removed.

Now is the time to start working on your course plan for the Spring 2024 semester, so please don't hesitate to schedule a meeting with me to discuss any questions you have about classes or degree requirements.

Best wishes, Doug
