Updates from Undergraduate Research & Fellowships
We are excited to invite you to explore the new Undergraduate Research & Fellowships (URAF) website! Most common advising questions are covered in our recorded information sessions and workshops. Students can attend upcoming information sessions and group application support events.
We have three upcoming opportunities:
1. Gilman Scholarship: Applications due October 10, 2024
For Pell-eligible undergraduates: The Gilman Scholarship provides up to $5,000 for credit-bearing undergraduate study or internships abroad. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or nationals and receiving a Pell grant. All majors are eligible.
2. National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship: Applications due October 15-18, 2024
For graduating seniors: The National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship Program (NSF GRFP) funds graduate study within the U.S. leading to research-based master’s and doctoral degrees (M.S. and Ph.D. programs) in STEM, STEM Education, and social sciences disciplines. Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents. NSF does not support professional degree programs or joint degree programs, such as medical, dental, law, public health or business degrees.
3. (New!) ASTER-LSAMP: Aligning STEM Trainees for Enterprising Research (rolling recruitment until filled)
For undergraduates: We are pleased to announce a new undergraduate research program! The Aligning STEM Trainees for Enterprising Research (ASTER) program is designed to grow and diversify the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) workforce at participating institutions in Kansas and Nebraska. Applicants must be enrolled full-time, degree-seeking UNL undergraduates; U.S. citizens or permanent residents; and pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM field. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis until the first cohort is filled.
