COVID-19 Update from Chancellor Ronnie Green

Going Forward – Random Mitigation Testing
If our positivity rates remain low in this third round of testing and we don’t see unexpected spikes or outbreaks of COVID cases in our community, we will then move to random mitigation testing.

Within a day of receiving your third test result, your Safer Community app will reflect your required testing as complete and that no future tests need to be scheduled at this time. It will remain in this status until/unless you are selected for the randomized testing. If you are selected, you will be notified via email, and the app will show the date by which you will need to complete your saliva test. These randomized tests will be required.

Final confirmation on the randomized mitigation testing and more details on how it will work will be provided once we have the data from the third round of re-entry tests. We expect to be able to communicate this to campus by the week of February 15. Continue reading…

CASNR CAREER FAIR EVENT OPEN TODAY, FEBR 9

Career Services is excited to host spring career fairs virtually through Handshake’s career fair platform. The Career Fair From Home Prep Event is designed to help UNL students get ready to have the most successful virtual Career Fair experiences possible.

After a brief introduction, students may join any of the below Zoom Room sessions to hear from and visit with Career Coaches and employer representatives to learn virtual career fair basics, strategies, and best practices. Each session (except for the introduction session) repeats every 15 minutes, so students may join each session in no particular order. Following an hour of these sessions, a 25-minute Employer Panel session will begin which will include an open Q&A time. Continue reading…

UCARE Applications Due FEBRUARY 15

Funded in part by gifts from the Pepsi Quasi Endowment and Union Bank & Trust, UCARE supports UNL undergraduates to work one-on-one with faculty research advisors in research or creative activities. The UCARE program solicits applications from eligible undergraduates for either academic year or summer awards. Awards are competitively reviewed and funded each year and are not automatically renewed.

Students who have already received a UCARE award must re-apply for funding by completing a full application, including a research abstract.

Mohr Biotechnology Scholarship and Fellowship Awards Program for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in a degree program in Biotechnology. YWCA Virtual SMART Girls Club Facilitator

A virtual SMART Girls facilitator will facilitate SMART Girls curriculum, activities, and programming to girls in 4th-8th grade. SMART Girls Club is a program which engages girls in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM), builds confidence, and inspires them to think about future education or careers in these fields. Virtual facilitators and girls work together to establish a relationship-centered learning community. Girls collaboratively explore hands-on, open-ended projects and investigations.
