Course Description
Microbiology is used across diverse fields from medicine to agriculture, from food to fuel, and metals to other commodities. This interdisciplinary course will examine commercial applications of microbiology integrating basic science and engineering with patent law, finance and business operations. The newly updated course will also draw from the instructor’s industrial experience as a veteran microbiologist, and as founder and participant in the culture and ecology of startups and incubators. Students will develop individual projects on industrial topics accompanied by pitching and visual presentation. Undergraduate are encouraged to take this graduate course by permission from the instructor.
