The Midwest Modern Language Association will be hosting its Undergraduate Research Symposium at Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI from November 14 to 16.
The Symposium is an integral component of the MMLA’s annual convention, which is a gathering of faculty members and graduate students from across the Midwest who present papers on their latest research. Our goal in hosting the Symposium is to showcase and celebrate promising research by undergraduate students as well as to offer a professional development opportunity that is especially useful to those who are interested in attending graduate school.
Proposals for a 15-20-minute, oral presentation of a 7-10-page, double-spaced paper are due by May 01. We happily accept proposals on any literary topic and time period, although we particularly welcome those that engage this year's theme, “The Humanities is Where Hope Lives.” Please Note: The Undergraduate Research Symposium will be fully in person. No virtual or hybrid panels will be scheduled.
Visit the MMLA’s member portal for more information on our proposal guidelines and the Undergraduate Student Paper Prize. Inquiries may be directed to Krislyn Zhorne at mmla@luc.edu.
