The 29th annual Flute Festival Day, that took place March 14 in Kimball Recital Hall on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, brought high school and college flutists plus local area teachers and band directors together for a day-long celebration of the flute, including masterclasses, performances, chamber music and flute choir.

Special guest artist Zart Dombourian-Eby, piccoloist with the Seattle Symphony, gave a stunning all-piccolo recital, and worked with four flutists in the Glenn Korff School of Music.

Dr. John Bailey, UNL Professor of Flute and Richard H. Larson Distinguished Professor of Music, said, “The level of playing in the high school masterclass was exceptional this year! The performers achieved a very high level of sophistication. I was also gratified that my university flutists performed so well, both in solo and chamber recitals.”

The 30th annual Flute Festival Day will take place in the spring of 2016. For more information contact Dr. Bailey, jbailey1@unl.edu.
