Multiple Student Ensembles to perform in Westbrook in coming weeks

Multiple Student Ensembles from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Glenn Korff School of Music will be performing in the Westbrook Recital Hall in the coming weeks.

First will be the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Studio Trumpet Ensemble at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5 in its finale concert. They will be performing the works of: Johann Ernst Altenburg’s, Concerto for 7 trumpets assisted by members of the percussion studio; Konstantin Listov’s Funeral Fanfare for 3 Trumpets; Aug. H. Schaefer’s The Troubadours; as well as several other pieces for solo trumpet and trumpet quintet. Colleen Carney and Moriah Hellstrom will be appearing to perform an original composition for Trumpet and Piano, written by Colleen Carney.

Next on Sunday, April 10 at 3 p.m., the UNL Guitar Ensemble will be performing pieces from Antonin Dvorak, and Peter Maxwell Davies. The recital will feature an arrangement of the Django Reinhardt inspired, “Romance Manouche,” as well as solo pieces from each member.

Then on Monday, April 11 at 7:30 p.m., the Large Brass Ensembles (The Husker Horn Choir, the Nebraska Trombone Ensemble and the UNL Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble) perform programs. The Husker Horn Choir, directed by Alan Mattingly, will perform four pieces including Mission Impossible. The Nebraska Trombone Ensemble, directed by Scott Anderson, will perform two pieces including from Symphony no. 1 “The Lord of the Rings” — Gandalf-The Wizard. The UNL Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble, directed by Craig Fuller, will perform four pieces including Suite for Six Tubas. This performance will be live webcast: http://arts.unl.edu/music/webcasts

To wrap up it up on Wednesday, April 13 at 7:30 p.m., the Saxophone Ensembles will be performing. This program will feature jazz and classical standards for saxophone quartet including works by Hindemith, Nestico, JeanJean, Bach, D’Rivera and Albeniz.

All of the performances are free and open to the public.
