Energy Center Director Dr. George Gogos addressed NPPD’s Board of Directors during their April 11, 2024, meeting in Columbus, Nebraska. Dr. Gogos provided an update on the work of the Nebraska Center for Energy Sciences Research, which is funded in part by NPPD. Dr. Gogos opened his presentation by thanking the Board, NPPD management and NPPD’s wholesale and retail customers for funding the Center’s important mission.
He then reviewed the opportunities provided to UNL students through the Darrell Nelson Summer Internship and Student Research Days programs, as well as the ongoing research projects funded by the Energy Center. He also reported on workshops hosted by the Energy Center, external funding received, and patents secured by UNL researchers. He closed the presentation by providing insights into his vision to expand the Energy Center’s capabilities. A Q&A discussion followed the presentation, during which NPPD President & CEO Tom Kent thanked Dr. Gogos for sharing NCESR’s vision for its future.
