The Glenn Korff School of Music is live-streaming six evening performances on November 2, 4, 5, and 6 for viewers locally and around the world. Chamber singers, jazz combos, and chamber classics on piano, woodwind, and strings instruments are being showcased in during this week of performances.
ChamberFest Concert #1
7:30 p.m. Monday, November 2
Four different chamber groups will take to the Westbrook Recital Hall stage, opening with a piano duo playing Johannes Brahms, followed by a violin-cello-piano trio playing a piece from Felix Mendelssohn. A clarinet duo will next perform a piece from Francis Poulenc, while a flute-oboe-clarinet-bassoon quartet closes out the night playing compositions by Elliot Carter and Charles Fernandez. Jazz Combos
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4
Hear the top jazz graduate combo at the UNL Glenn Korff School of Music from Westbrook Recital Hall. This group features Metro Lyle on trumpet, Bryan Canonigo on saxophone, Tetsuya Nishiyama on guitar, Andrew Mell on bass, and Andrew Wray on drums. This band plays a variety of tunes ranging from old jazz standards from the early 20th century, contemporary jazz from more recent years, and some originals written for this concert. ChamberFest Concert #2
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 4
Three chamber groups will take the Kimball Recital Hall stage. A violin-viola-piano trio will open the night with a piece from Ignaz Lachner. They will be followed by the Atelier Piano Quartet performing a composition from Robert Schumann. Then, a violin-guitar-bass trio will close out the night with three pieces, including one original composition from a member of the trio, Noah Gose. No in-person audience. Live Webcast
Chamber Singers
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 5
Enjoy an eclectic mix including cathedral-inspired music and contemporary work by composers from underrepresented communities in choral music from Kimball Recital Hall. Dale Trumbore’s “In the Middle” is about how time moves quickly and escapes us. However, she masterfully set the text of Barbara Crooker in such a lyric way that reminds you to stop and take time to enjoy what is happening around you before it’s gone. Jazz Combos
7:30 p.m. Wednesday, November 5
All the undergraduate jazz combos will perform from Westbrook Recital Hall. These five groups are coached by current DMA students Andrew Mell, Tetsuya Nishiyama, and Bryan Canonigo. These groups play mostly classic jazz standards and American songbook tunes, with a few originals written by the undergraduate band members. No in-person audience. Live Webcast
ChamberFest Concert #3
7:30 p.m. Friday, November 6
The final night of ChamberFest from Kimball Recital Hall will feature five chamber groups. Two piano duos open the night, the first with a piece from Philip Glass and the second with a piece from Sergei Rachmaninoff. A flute-piano duo will then play a piece from Astor Piazzolla, followed by The Red Lotus Piano Trio performing a composition from Franz Schubert. The final group of the night, a quintet, will play a piece from Antonín Dvořák. No in-person audience. Live Webcast
