Through the layering of imagery, culturally resonant materials, and text, Bailey explores themes of ancestry, race, migration, and collective memory. His work creates links between African diasporic histories and potential futures and investigates notions of identity. His mixed media work "Distant Stars II" is on view at Sheldon Museum of Art in the exhibition "Person of Interest."

Bailey’s work is included in the collections of the Metropolitan Museum of Art; the Smithsonian Institution; the Art Institute of Chicago; the Denver Art Museum; the High Museum of Art; and Sheldon Museum of Art among many others. Jack Shainman Gallery has represented him since 2002.

Tyler Green is an historian, critic, and the host of the Modern Art Notes Podcast, a weekly interview program that has aired more than 460 episodes. His first book, "Carleton Watkins: Making the West American" (University of California Press, 2018), won a 2019 California Book Award gold medal.

Live captions will be available during the program.
