Films at Mary Riepma Ross Media Arts Center

Ongoing; December 16 is Student Night

Two films are currently showing and another is coming soon.

  • JULIA - a film about legendary cookbook author and television superstar Julia Child - is screening now through December 9.
  • BENEDETTA - based on a true story, is showing now through December 16.
  • THE SOUVENIR PART II will open on December 10 and continue through Dec. 23.

This month's Student Night is Thursday, December 16. Show your student ID to get $1.00 tickets, popcorn, and drinks for all screenings.

Succulent Pot Painting

Destress during 15th Week by painting a plant pot and get a succulent plant to go in it. Hosted by College of Business Inclusive Excellence.

Husker Men's Basketball vs. University of Michigan

Tuesday, December 7 | 6 p.m. | Pinnacle Bank Arena

The Huskers face their Big Ten counterpart in the last home game prior to final exams. Ticket purchase required to attend. The game will be broadcast on the Husker Radio Network, too.

Study at SHELDON

Wednesday, December 8 | 4 to 8 p.m. | Sheldon Museum of Art

The museum's Great Hall will be transformed into a huge study hall for one night. While there, take a break from the books and computers to explore the galleries for inspiration and fuel up with coffee from The Coffee House and various snacks.

Holiday Dinner at the Dining Centers

Wednesday, December 8 | 4:30 to 8 p.m. | Campus Dining Centers

All meal-plan holders are invited to enjoy the delicious annual Holiday Meal prepared by Dining Services. Dinner is included with meal plans.

Entrees will include Carved Prime Rib; Bacon & Mushroom Stuffed Pork Loin; Balsamic-Glazed Salmon; Butternut Squash Risotto; Penne Pesto Alfredo; Fried Fantail Shrimp; and Glazed Baked Ham and accompanied by a variety of special side dishes and desserts. Abel, Cather, & Harper Dining Centers will serve dinner from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

Husker Women's Basketball vs. Indiana State

Saturday, December 11 | 1 p.m. | Pinnacle Bank Arena

It's the last home game for the Huskers prior to final exams and there will be a roller banner giveaway for fans. Tickets are FREE for all UNL students. Here's how to claim your ticket in advance. The game will be broadcast on the Husker Radio Network, too.

Ballroom Dance Club Winter Showcase

Saturday, December 11 | 12 to 8 p.m. | Nebraska Union, Centennial Room

The club's dance company will present their Winter Showcase, featuring dances by the various teams of the company, solo performances, and fellow dancers from the UNO Ballroom Dance Team.

Intramural Sports BATTLESHIP

Sunday, December 12 | 4 p.m. | Campus Rec Center, Pool

Teams of 4 students compete against each other in a fun human-size version of the popular online & board game. Students defend their own canoe while trying to sink the watercraft of all their opponents - using only buckets to toss water. The entire action takes place indoors at the Campus Rec Center Pool.

Co-ed, men's, women's, and open divisions are offered. Teams must register by 7 p.m. December 9 at the Intramural Sports office.

Free Coffee from the Chancellor

Monday, December 13 – Friday, December 17 | Nebraska Unions

All week during final exams, students can pick up free Starbucks drip coffee from the Nebraska Union's Welcome Desk and directly from Starbucks at the Nebraska East Union.

Available 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday–Thursday and 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.

Jingle Barre

Tuesday, December 14 | 6 to 6:50 p.m. | Campus Rec Center, Combative Arts Room

Participate in a festive-themed Barre fitness class and enjoy a break from final exams. Enjoy a great workout to get into the spirit of the holidays.

Limited to 15 participants. Preregistration opens December 7 and is required.

December 2021 Commencement Ceremonies

Friday, December 17 & Saturday, December 18 | Pinnacle Bank Arena

Doctoral and Master's graduate degrees will be conferred at a ceremony at 3 p.m. December 17. Undergraduate baccalaureate degrees will be awarded at 9 a.m. December 18.

The celebrations will include both the December 2021 class and the returning graduates from the Class of 2020 & Class of 2021 from May and August.
