Explore and Understand: Mentoring

Mentoring, at it’s core, guarantees young people that there is someone who cares about them, assures them they are not alone in dealing with day-to-day challenges and makes them feel like they matter. Research confirms that quality mentoring relationships have powerful positive effects on young people in a variety of personal, academic and professional situations.

Huskers can learn more in the Lincoln Youth Mentoring Coalition 2021 State of Mentoring Report.

TeamMates of Lincoln

TeamMates Mentoring matches an adult volunteer to meet with a student in grades 3-12 weekly to help them realize their strengths, develop hope for their future and simply listen. Matches are made thoughtfully, based on common interests and the mentor’s choice of school and/or grade level. Visits last one class period and only take place at the school.
