With warmer weather right around the corner, it’s time to start thinking about some fun ways to enjoy the outdoors. Go on a solo adventure or grab some friends to discover these places you can get active around Lincoln.


18th & S recreation area
Are you looking to play basketball or sand volleyball with some friends? check out the 18th & S rec recreation area near the University Suites or the Rec & Wellness Center Outside Area on East Campus.


17th & Vine Recreation Area
If Tennis is more your thing, grab your racquet and visit the 17th & Vine Recreation Area or additionally, 14th & Avery Recreation adjacent to Harper-Schramm-Smith.


17th Street Green Space
Are you looking for a big open space to throw a football, kick around a soccer ball, play lawn games, or just exercise with friends? The 17th Street Green Space and Mabel Lee Rec Field, both located on City Campus, are available for all students to use.


Fitness Court at 17th & R
Stop by the Fitness Court at 17th & R right outside of Knoll Residential Complex for a full-body circuit workout. Download the app to be guided through the seven body weight exercise stations offered.


Antelope Creek Trail
This scenic 2.3-mile loop around Antelope Creek offers a quick route that’s perfect for beginners or anyone looking for a casual walk or jog.


Rock Island Trail – North Section
Rock Island Trail is a beautiful 4-mile path located near downtown Lincoln, weaving past the Sunken Gardens, the Children’s Zoo, and the Col. Densmore Park — popular for biking, running, and walking.


Pioneers Park
Located in South Lincoln, Pioneers Park is one of Lincoln’s oldest parks showcasing the Pinewood Bowl Theater, hiking trails, playground areas, the Pioneers Park Nature Center, and more.


Holmes Park & Lake
Residing in the heart of Lincoln, Holmes Park & Lake features picnic grounds, hiking trails, and a lake for fishing or paddle boarding. Stop by the Outdoor Adventures Center on the way there to rent a stand-up paddle board.


Adventure Golf Center
Putter around with friends in a round of mini golf at Adventure Golf Center. Be sure to check the website for seasonal hours.
