Lincoln Marathon is May 7, 2023.
Lincoln Marathon is May 7, 2023.

Sunday, May 7 is the 46th annual Lincoln Marathon and Half Marathon. The start and finish lines for both races are on UNL's City Campus. For students living on campus, this may affect your parking and traffic choices on Saturday and Sunday.

The race starts at 6:55 a.m. and all participants should be completely through the starting line and campus by 8 a.m.

The race route on campus and the areas affected:

• Participants will assemble in the starting corrals on 14th Street, between Vine Street and 14th & Avery Parking Garage.

• The starting line is on Vine Street, between 14th and 16th Streets.

• Runners will first travel east on Vine Street, through the intersections with 16th & 17th Streets.

• When runners reach the Beadle Center, they will turn south onto 19th Street, headed towards University Health Center and Eastside Suites.

• When 19th Street curves into R Street, runners will continue on R Street until 16th Street (passing 50/50, the 17th & R Parking Garage, and Knoll Residence Center).

• Runners will turn south onto 16th Street, entering downtown and departing campus.

Due to the race route, several parking bans and other traffic issues will affect campus residents and nearby. Pay attention to posted signs and signals in these areas, especially on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday (May 5–7).

Cars will be towed on Sunday morning if parked in the areas where on-street parking is prohibited.

Vehicles parked on 17th Street south of Vine Street (by The Courtyards) will not have an exit until the start of the race is over.

Drivers parked in the large surface lot north of the Knoll & Eastside Suites complex will have difficulty exiting that lot until the race clears the campus area. If possible, use the exit to 17th Street, then south to R Street. Use the coned-off lane along R Street to travel westbound towards 14th Street.

Drivers parked in both the 17th and R Garage and the 50/50 garage will be forced to exit to the south onto Q st.

Both the Campus Rec Center and the Outdoor Adventures Center will delay opening until 12 p.m. on May 7 due to their locations near the race's start line.
