There's nothing quite being part of the sea of red to travel away for Husker football games. The feeling of being surrounded by fellow fans as you feel the thrill of cheering on the team is unmatched.

If you plan on traveling to Boulder, CO for the Sept 9 game (or other road games this season), here are a few things you should consider.

  1. If you’re participating in a tailgate with rival fans, offer to arrive early to help set up. Striking up a conversation while you prep for the game can be a great way to get to know the other team's fans and learn more about their school.

  2. Cheer for your team, but don't be obnoxious. There's a difference between being passionate and being disrespectful. Remember you represent the university and fellow Nebraskans when you travel.

  3. If you choose to drink, do so responsibly and be aware of potential consequences if you’re not of legal age or acting belligerently. Remember the Student Code of Conduct still applies even if out-of-state.

  4. Avoid fights. Even if the home fans are being obnoxious, don't sink to their level.

  5. Do not mix alcohol with marijuana – it’s dangerous to be twisted. Even if you’re in a state where it is legal to purchase, remember that transporting beyond state lines can be illegal.

  6. If you have been drinking, be sure to have a designated driver or take an Uber, Lyft or taxi back to your hotel or AirBNB.

  7. Have fun! Football games are supposed to be enjoyable, so relax and enjoy the experience.

  8. Be gracious in victory. Don't rub it in the faces of the home fans. Thank the home fans for their hospitality. They made you feel welcome, even though you were cheering for the other team.

  9. No matter how good our Huskers are team is, there's always a chance they could lose. If they do, be gracious in defeat as well.

  10. When you travel as a Husker fan, remember that you’re part of one of the greatest tradition in college football and you’re a guest. Show the home fans what it means to be a Husker fan. Cheer loud and proud, be respectful and let's make sure that the Huskers know we are here to support them. Travel safe and Go Big Red!
