First-Generation College Celebration Day is November 8 and events are happening all week - from networking & giveaways to holiday baking. Plus, a late-night discussion about Native American Heritage Month, a chance to pitch your business idea for $10,000 worth of prizes & an advanced cycling class. First Gen Alumni Panel + Networking Event

Late Night Dish it Up

Join this interactive conversation to celebrate and honor the rich and diverse cultures, traditions, and contributions of Native Americans.

Dish It Up is a space that fosters inclusive shared learning of students, faculty, and staff where everyone can engage in dialogue, challenge their thinking, and build relationships.

Pet a dog and de-stress. Certified therapy dog teams visit Love Library and the Dinsdale Family Learning Commons monthly in this program for students, faculty, and staff.


3-2-1 Quick Pitch
5 to 8 p.m., November 9
College of Business, Room 212

The 3-2-1 Quick Pitch Competition is an annual event where you can showcase your entrepreneurial, communication, and presentation skills through a short “quick pitch” proposal for a new business venture. Competitors will have 3 minutes 2 pitch 1 idea. A panel of entrepreneurial-minded experts will judge proposals and provide you with valuable feedback. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop ideas as well as network with other students, successful entrepreneurs and community leaders.

Cash prizes totaling $10,000 will be awarded to the top pitches from each competition room. Winners will also get a guaranteed spot to compete in the university’s New Venture Competition for a $15,000 grand prize and an opportunity for further investment from the Husker Venture Fund.

All UNL undergraduate and graduate students are invited to participate. Competition rooms will be divided by level of education. Register by November 6.

Unleash your inner baker and roll up your sleeves to create delicious holiday cookies with the first-gen student organization.

The UHC kitchen is across from the information desk, inside the Health Center.


Advanced Cycle
6 to 6:50 p.m., November 9
Campus Recreation Center, Cycle Studio

If you love cycling and want to take it to the next level, get ready for heavier hills, intense sprints, and more complex choreography for an effective cardiovascular and endurance workout. This class is open to anyone up for the challenge.

Free with Group Fitness Pass & $10 without pass.
