Great American Smokeout Events Provide Tobacco Cessation Support

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln will be smoke-free, tobacco-free and vapor-free beginning January 1, 2018. Are you prepared?

Stop by one of the Great American Smokeout booth locations this week to learn more about the policy change, receive cessation resources and education and learn how you can support other students who are trying to quit their tobacco habit.

Event locations:
• Nov. 7, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Harper Dining Hall
• Nov. 8, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nebraska Union, The Crib
• Nov. 9, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Willa Cather Dining Hall
• Nov. 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., Abel and Selleck Dining Halls
• Nov. 10, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Nebraska East Union outside Lanes ‘n Games

Event activities:
• Get a free toothbrush and toothpaste!
• Trade in your tobacco products for a free Quit Kit, which includes mints, a stress ball, activity book, tea, helpful educational information and more.
• Fill out an accountability postcard with the reasons you are choosing to quit. In three months, it will be mailed back to you free of charge to remind you of your goals.
• Learn more about the new policy by playing trivia with our booth staff members.
• Write messages of support to students who are trying to quit. These will be posted at the front desk of residence halls for students to take when they feel they need extra support.
